Born to the late William and Helen (Hvist) Demyanovich and a former resident of Linden, Diane was a graduate of Linden High School and Montclair State University and was employed as a rate analyst with Elizabethtown Gas Company for 37 years.
A craft show enthusiast, Diane loved shopping and finding bargains. She also enjoyed celebrating the changing seasons and all the holidays with family and friends especially hosting elaborate Fourth of July celebrations. She enjoyed carrying on her Slovak traditions by making Hrutka, baking Pascha bread at Easter and holding holy supper on Christmas Eve. An avid gardener, she tended to her many flowers and plants around the house and deck and loved tulips and roses. She was fascinated by the many butterflies and hummingbirds attracted to the flowers. She and her husband enjoyed bunnies and had a collection of them around her house and yard. Growing up Diane was a Giants fan and, by marriage, became a Yankee and Rutgers football fan who enjoyed attending RU home games and tailgate parties. Music and dancing was a joyful element of her life especially the songs of Bruce Springsteen and Marshal Crenshaw. She also loved to polka.
Diane enjoyed vacationing with Gary, her beloved husband of 28 years, and also loved the beach. They met in Belmar, where two friends became lovers. She also had a special place in her heart for Cape May where they got engaged on Sunset Beach and where she received her Cape May diamond.
Everyone in her life felt her love. She was the most thoughtful gift giver and confidant and would always make time for family and friends even while undergoing numerous treatments in her later years. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Elizabeth, NJ.
She is survived by her husband Gary and sister Carol Demyanovich of Franklin Park, and will be dearly missed by her cousins, godchildren and many friends.
