My heart breaks with the news of Christine’s  passing. My deepest condolences go to the family. 
I loved how she lit up the room and had an amazing smile. She loved the girls and was always interested in what they were up too. She was amazing listener also. 
Words cannot express how sad it is to know you are gone. The girls and I will miss the chats and seeing you when we come down for our visits.

Christine volunteered for the 4-H Program of Union County when she was in High School and college.  She kindly gave her time to take children to our 4-H Summer Camp for a week each summer.  It was not a paid position.. she volunteered because she loved working with children.   She was very good with younger children.. always smiling and excited to see them ... she really made them feel so welcome.  Christine became a better and better counselor to the children each summer.. she had so much energy and enthusiasim. 

She was also good at making friends ... she and the other counselors had a good time together.. her smile lite up any gathering. 

Once  she graduated college she might have even worked for 4-H for a year or so... teaching children science in the summer. 

The last time I saw Christine was at a grammer school in Elizabeth. I had gone there to teach her class about trees.  I was very happy to see her again and see what a good teacher she had become.  She always made you feel welcome.

Fortunato, I meet you a few times... I am very sorry for your loss.  I have never meet your sons but Christine told me about them and her face glowed when she did...  please tell them how sorry I am.

Christine, a beautiful friend, mother, wife, sister, and daughter.  When our boys danced together you made us a family.  You taught us how to navigate everything, you were the voice of reason, you made us laugh sitting back stage (while you graded papers).  You were the most fun, kind, generous, beautiful spirit.  I have missed our dance family so much, but have always been grateful for the memories that you helped us create for our boys and for us as parents.  You inspired me with your optimism and kind heart.  I am sending prayers to your family in this difficult time.  Rest in peace (though knowing you, you will be as busy as ever helping others and watching us from above!). We will miss you.....until we meet again.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I met Christine many many years ago when she worked at union market at the jewelry store she was still in high school we became friends right away every time we saw each other we always laughed . We lost touch after store closed then one day many years ago her mom came to my office as a patient and we reconnected and I found out she got married and had two boys I was so happy for her. Years later her husband became my patient too.

Whether it was your two wonderful boys as they danced their hearts out on stage or your students in your classroom. You were a ray of sunshine to everyone you met.

You were 20 yrs old in this pic & so in love...because you were dating Lucky (Fortunado). I'm so happy you found love with him. This is how I will always remember you. Beautiful on the inside & out.

You sent me this picture during my first in the NAVY. It made me laugh so hard & reminded me of how goofy & loving my bestie was. I missed you so much. 

We had so many adventures together! You were my Bestie & I will always cherish our time together. ( Christine was 17-18 yrs old in these pics.) 

This was our first time sledding. We were crashing everywhere & froze our butts off....but kept playing in the snow until dark.  We had so much fun together. I wish we had more time. 

This is when we were camp counselors with the 4-H program. You were so silly & love to dress up & play with the kids. You made everything fun. 

This was such a fun day. We walked & checked out the cute guys lol! I loved your mom too! She was the sweetest lady with a beautiful smile.  You were a wonderful daughter & sister. Daniel was your baby lol....but I can still remember you telling him to get out of your room lol. (Christine was about 16 yrs old here)

I can't believe I'm writing this but my heart broke when I found out you were no longer with us. Christine Da Silva Lucia , words will never describe how much you mean to me & I'm still in disbelief. We were best friends in high school. You were with me through so many of the most important events in my young life. I can still hear your laugh & remember how silly you were. Your smile lit up every room you were in. I was so blessed to have you as my friend/ sister. As we got older & moved away, we still loved eachother. We said we would one day get together. We thought we had so much time. My biggest regret is not seeing you before you went home. My heart breaks for Lucky, Alex, Nick, your Dad & brother. I can't imagine their pain. I know that God is going to take care of them & I will continue to pray for them. I will miss you & will forever carry you in my heart. LYLAS forever ❤️

I am without words on the passing of Christine Lucia. I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Lucia at School No. 15. She was a wonderful teacher who loved her students and teaching. Always ready to help and volunteer. You may be gone, but your beautiful soul will always be a part of School No. 15. My sincerest condolences to her husband, children, and family.

As I am sure your heart is heavy with grief; please know that so many others who were touched with your Mother's love and friendship are grieving along with you.

Definitely taken too soon, but she will be the brightest star shining from Heaven.  The sweetest song of the birds and the wonderful smell from her garden flowers.  

I know how deeply she loved you all and how she probably had the hardest discussion with God's angels about leaving you all; but she saw the wonderous place waiting for her and the fact that she wouldn't be letting you see her sick, she decided to go.  

May God's love from everyone and her help you through this difficult time.

Christine was an inspiration and a privilege to know as a fellow educator.  One particular memory I have was the kindness and generosity she exhibited to me when I became a new staff member at School 15.  Her welcoming spirit and helpfulness made me feel that I had truly arrived at a 'New Home.'. She was a consummate professional and her mark on Education will never be forgotten. 
We will miss her and remember her as the HEART of Education.

I can't believe you were taken so soon.   Growing up together & being best friends for years is what got me through some rough times.  You always knew how to make me laugh & make the hardest times possible.  Everyday with your beautiful smile, you would change lives. Oh how she loved her sons, Nick & Alex. She would share with us stories about their growing pains, adventures and lives. She would show us pictures of them. They were her heart & soul. She raised wonderful boys who are now young men. I know they are missing their mother so much. Nick , Alex & Mr. Lucia, I'm praying for God to give you His comfort, peace and direction during this extremely sad time. I want to thank all of you for sharing Christine with us. Thank you for opening your lives and your home up to us. To the Da Silva and Lucia families, please know that we loved Christine & we are desperately missing her. She was a blessing to us, to every single student she taught & to the entire School 15 community. We will never forget her. There is a huge void within our school. Just know that we will do our best to keep her legacy alive. She was a rare & beautiful person. She will always have a special place in my heart. She has touched my life tremendously. I know I will see her again someday. Until then I will cherish the memories & pictures that I have of her. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Christine Lucia was my co-worker for almost 15 years at School 15 in Elizabeth, NJ. She was such a bright light and she had an infectious personality. She was always upbeat & positive. She had a great sense of humor, which I will greatly miss. Christine loved her job. She was a phenomenal teacher & co-worker. She was the heartbeat of our school; always planning, orchestrating and facilitating one school event after another. She amazed me with her energy and tireless efforts. Christine was extremely creative. She would come up with these creative ideas out of the blue. She would knit gloves, hats & scarves. She would create cake pops, chocolate bombs, tea bombs & many other things that I can't recall at this moment. Christine also had a green thumb. I loved the plants that she grew. Anything you gave her would grow. Last year I asked her to take care of a little tiny plant my mother had given me (because I definitely do not have a green thumb). I named the plant Tina, which was a nickname my mother had as a child because she was so tiny. I forgot all about the plant, but one day Christine reminded me about 'Tina' and told me that Tina was thriving at her house. LOL  I have so many memories of Christine. I called her 'Lucia'. I think this is a thing that teachers do, or maybe it's just me. However she called me 'Nilaja'. One of my memories is how her family, her husband and sons, always supported her. They would come and volunteer at many school events. Her husband was always there when she needed him. Whenever I saw him at school I knew he was there to either drop something off, or to assist her with something that was school-related. It always made me smile. 

Ms. Lucia was my fourth grade English teacher. She was beyond amazing in her teaching skills with children, she cared for them, made the class entertaining and fun, and most importantly loved them. There was never a dull moment in her classroom. She made me feel safe and always told me I gave her the best hugs. She will be terribly missed and I send my condolences out to her family. May she rest in peace. ❤️🕊️
