Carmine A. Vella, of Elizabeth, died peacefully on October 20, 2024. Carmine was born in Vallata, Italy, and moved to the United States with his family in 1957. He grew up in the Peterstown section of Elizabeth, NJ, and proudly served in the United States Army (1966 – 1968). Upon returning home, Carmine worked as a cabinet maker and carpenter, and went on to own several of his own contracting companies. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Maria Carmen Rivera, and the couple moved to neighboring Linden to raise their family.
In 2001, Carmine and his family moved back to Elizabeth. Carmine was a staple of the Peterstown community, but to his family, he was “Grandpa” or “Pop”. Nothing mattered more to Carmine than his family. He was always there to help, and he loved spending time telling jokes, showing card tricks, and telling stories about growing up in Italy to his grandchildren Valentina, Carmine A., Raymond, Carmine P., Dante, Natalia, Gabriel, Raymond Jr, Cassandra, Victoria and Alessandro.
Carmine is survived by his loving wife Maria Carmen, sons Pasquale, Raymond (Angela), and Vittorio (Bianca), and daughter Delfina Guenther (Christopher), as well as his brother Michele Vella, nephews Michael (Janette) and Pasquale (Liliana), and niece Maria. He is predeceased by his parents Pasquale and Vittoria, brother Gerardo Vella, and daughter-in-law Kimberly Vella.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
