Carmen Maria Nunez

Carmen Maria Nuñez went home to the bosom of God the Father peacefully on December 16, 2023

Born on July 26, 1941 in La Isla del Encanto - Puerto Rico. Maria left Puerto Rico and moved to New Jersey with her older brother Pablo and found work at a leather factory making purses. She loved to dance and listen to different types of music especially from South America. Of course her older cousins and sister in law taught her how to cook and make great Puerto Rican cuisine.

Daughter of Ursula Caban and Pedro Velez who raised Maria to be caring, strong and independent.

Siblings - Pablo Velez – Passed, Auria Velez Alvarez – Passed, Obdulio Velez – Passed, Lydia Velez Claudio – Living. Maria loved her brothers and sister and was there every step of the way for them in time need.

Maria was close to many family members especially her cousins Ada Iris, Chabela, Lucy, Minin

Life Relationship Partner of Miguel Rodriguez ( Mikey ) for 51 Years which began in 1972.

Maria a Loving and Steadfast Mother with 5 sons is survived by Jose Alvarez, Miguel Nunez, Ismael Toledo, Edwin Toledo passed after 5 days of birth and Rolando Castell. Maria devoted her life to raising her boys alone until she met Mikey and he adopted all the boys as his own children and helped Maria raise them in a good strong household.

Grandmother of many children, especially those that needed her most are Tiffany & Abigail whom she spent plenty of time with them. Aunt of many nephews and nieces which are too many to mention however, they know who they are…because of all the hugs that Maria gave them…

Follower and believer of Jesus the Messiah and a member of Fountain of Salvation Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Maria in her last 2 years while losing her memories due to dementia always remembered this one phrase no matter what “Mi Alma Adora/Alaba al Senor” which demonstrated her heart & faith in God. You will always be remembered and we will miss you dearly…

A celebration of life will be held on December 20, 2023 between 4pm-6pm at the Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home located at 2124 East St. George Avenue, Linden, New Jersey 07036

A visitation for Carmen will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
