Wes, the youngest of three sons, was born on June 12, 1947, to Harvey and Bertha (Remmers) Haecker in Beatrice NE. Wes grew up on a farm near Pickrell, NE. After high school, he began working construction, becoming a true master carpenter, superintendent, and construction company owner.
In 2016, Wes retired from UNL and spent his time working on home improvement projects, building furniture, making beautiful crafts, traveling to Arizona to visit his daughter, and spending valued time with family.
Wes is survived by his wife Monica (Piccolo) Haecker, his son Patrick Haecker (Denise) of Lincoln NE, daughter Rebecca Deaver of Lincoln NE, son Gabriel Haecker (Jackie) of Lincoln NE, daughter Grace Melrose (Anthony) of Scottsdale AZ, brothers Walter Haecker (Virginia) of Lincoln NE and Dale Haecker (Kathy) of Gretna NE. Wes was preceded in death by his parents.
Wes’s grandsons are Cameron Haecker (Emma), Nicholas Deaver, Brayden Chavez, Gabriel Haecker, Grayson Haecker, Lincoln Haecker, Micah Melrose, and Kohlton Melrose. His granddaughters are Nicole Haecker, Cadence Haecker, and Paige Melrose.
Wes is also survived by stepchildren Erik Larsen (Amy) of Lincoln NE, Ann Barlett (Rick) of Omaha NE, step grandsons Eliot, Jude, Avery, and step granddaughter Macie.
Wes has also left behind many nieces and nephews that he was very fond of.
A celebration of life will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512 on January 27th, 2024, at 11 AM. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
