A Celebration of Life will be held at The Auld Pavilion, 1650 Memorial Drive in Lincoln, Nebraska on July
30, 2022 from 3-6 pm.
Vicki Lynn (Wood) Vavra, 69, of Dorchester, Nebraska passed away on July 14, 2022 in her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was surrounded by her loving family.
Vicki was born on March 5, 1953 in Belleville, Kansas, to Kenneth and Bonnie Wood.
Her family moved to York, Nebraska when she was in second grade, there she went to grade school, middle school and high school. Upon graduation from high school she attended beauty school, graduated,
and started a career as a beautician. During this time she married and had three children Eric, David and
Jennifer. She taught herself to make beautiful wedding cakes as a side job as she raised her family. She
found her passion working in the restaurant business for 30 plus years. Vicki worked as a restaurant
manager at Misty’s in Havelock, Jax Shack and Arby’s.
Vicki’s greatest passion in life was her family. Family Holidays were where she shared her talents in
baking, cooking, crafts, sewing and gardening. She made everything from stocking caps to painted rocks
with words of inspiration and donated them to cancer wards. Her final act of giving was donating her
brain and spine to Columbia University in New York, New York, who are part of the Rocky Mountain MS
Society, so that scientists could study the MS with which she had lived with for 30 years.
Vicki is survived by her husband Danny Vavra; sister Connie Davis, brother Kenny Wood and brother
Monte Wood; children, Michelle Green, Eric Boop and Jennifer Nahorny; grandchildren, Lane Dillon,
Madison Dobberstine, Kaitlyn Dillon, Hunter Dillon, Conner Carter and JJ Nahorny; and many extended
