Twyla M. Schnieder

Twyla was born to Charles and Dora (Reynoldson) Porter in Albion, NE. She joined four siblings. Twyla graduated from Albion High School in 1951 and then went to St. Elizabeth School of Nursing graduating in 1954 with her diploma as a Registered Nurse. Twyla worked in a variety of nursing positions over her 44-year nursing career including: St. Elizabeth Hospital, Red Cloud Community Hospital, physician’s office, Bethagee Home, Wahoo Clinic. She retired from Tabitha in 1998 after 13 years as House Supervisor.

Twyla married Rollin D. Schnieder on September 4, 1954 and to this union sons Craig and Kent were born. The family lived in Davey. Twyla and Rollie spent countless hours volunteering with the American Red Cross for Nebraska football games, teaching CPR classes in the community, and serving on the Ceresco Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Twyla loved the Lord, her family, and her nursing career. She enjoyed raising golden retrievers for 30+ years, her large garden, polka music, cooking/baking, and chauffeuring her grandkids.

Preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Marie, Charlie, Frances and Joe and her husband Rollie. Left to cherish her memory are sons Craig (Renee) and Kent (Patti Ann); all of Davey. Grandchildren Jessica (Patrick), Jason (Stacey), Jeff (Emily), Brady and Kelbie Ann. Great-grandchildren Carson, Evan, Graham, Gracie and Graya.

Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, March 27th at 10:00 a.m at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Davey, NE. Private family burial to follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to the American Red Cross or, better yet, donate a pint of blood and tell them Twyla sent you.

The family thanks the staff (friends) of Saunders County Long Term Care for their attentiveness and care of Twyla these last seven years.
