Travis Dean Tussing’s time on earth with friends and family ended at age 30 on June 4, 2022 in Lincoln, NE. Taken before his time, Travis was loved by many as a son, brother, and valued friend. Travis was born in Lincoln on November 22, 1991 where he spent his life in his hometown.
Travis graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 2010 and, during these years, excelled as an all-state rugby player for both the Lincoln United Barbarians and the Nebraska All-State U-21 highs chool rugby team. He attended LSU on a full academic scholarship and looked forward to playing rugby there.
Travis has always been an athletic and health oriented person and would spend countless hours researching nutrition, biochemistry, and weight training philosophies to better his fitness and to achieve peak performance both in the weight room and on the rugby pitch. Later, Travis used this immense knowledge to help others by earning his International Sports Sciences Association Certification as a Nutritionist, Personal Trainer, and Fitness Coach. He was recently engaged as the Head Trainer at OneUp Fitness Center where he was developing a broad range of programs to suit the members’ individual needs. Here, Travis found his true passion helping others achieve their aspirations and was only scratching the surface of his impact on others.
Travis was the loving son of, and is survived by, his parents Dr. Gerald and Connie (Weimer) Tussing. He leaves behind a brother, Collin and wife Kate (O'Brien) Tussing and niece Rose Tussing, his half sisters, Leslie Tussing and Kerin (Tussing) Peterson, and niece Ellen (Peterson) Nordgren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dean and Irene (Gustafson) Weimer of Lincoln. Travis leaves behind many more extended family and countless friends that will all miss his incredibly generous spirit and room brightening smile.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday August 5th at First Plymouth Church, 2000 D St, Lincoln, NE for all that wish to attend. The family invites you to join them after the service for a light lunch and to share memories of Travis.
