Ronald Leroy Loken of Lincoln, NE passed away January 11, 2019 at the age of 77. Loving husband, father, brother and friend. Ron was born in Nebraska City and served in the US Marine Corps from 1961 through 1963. He was a boilermaker, postal worker, and an accomplished blacksmith. He partnered with his son, John, producing ornamental iron work displayed across the United States and Europe. Their shop was located in Omaha at the Hot Shops. He also was active in the Boy Scouts serving as a Troop Leader. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and his many pets. Ron is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lenn and Jeanne Loken. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan (Sam); his son, John Loken (Cara) of Bennet; daughters: Heather Miller (Timothy) of Lincoln; Dr. Erin Van Boening (Dr. Jeremy) of Orleans, NE; Gretchen Albers (Jason) of Kearney; brother, Neil Loken of Maine; sister, Barb Thomas of South Carolina and Sally Patterson of Texas. He also was fortunate to have had nine grandchildren: Conner Loken; Emmalyn Brower; Christian (Tyler) McClanahan; Emma Miller; Grace Miller; Anna Miller; William Van Boening; Kate Albers; Henry Albers ; and one great grandchild, Harper McClanahan. Ron’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D Street, Lincoln, NE at 11:00 am. Dr. Jim Keck officiating.
