Mr. Ronald L Bachman

Ronald L Bachman Born Ronald Lee Wallace Bachman Omaha, NE. on January 13, 1935. Ron married Virginal L Hogan in December of 1959 and had three children, Jeff, Jill and Jay. Virginal lost her life to cancer in 1974. Ron later married LaVon L Smith in 1976 and blended her five children with his three to form a family of eight kids. Ron retired in 1997 from Nebraska Wesleyan University after 28 years. He was professor of Health and Physical Education, head baseball coach, wrestling coach and assistant football coach. He served in the Army as a medic from 1955 to 1958. He served on Nebraska Massage Therapy board 1988 – 1998, Babe Ruth Baseball board member 1988- 1998, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor trainer 1955 to 1998, NCAA Chairman 1990 – 1993. NWU Booster Club, Member of Havelock United Methodist Church until 2000 and most recently a member of Aldersgate. Graduated high school in Blair, NE., received B.A. from Nebraska Wesleyan University, M.S. from Kearney State University, Ed. D from University of Nebr. Lincoln. Survived by Sons and Daughters-in–law, Jeff and Caren Bachman of Salina, KS, Dan Smith and Julie Clopper-Smith of Lincoln, Jay and Michelle Bachman of Lincoln. Daughters and Sons-in-law, Becky Bachman-Schmidt and Jim Schmidt of Powder Springs, GA, Angie and Mike Sullivan of Lincoln, Jill Hitz of Lincoln, Loree and Jerry Steffen of Dakota Dunes, SD. Carrie and Scott Hoyt of Lincoln. 19 Grand Children, 4 Great Grand Children. Preceded in death by Wife LaVon Bachman, and Parents Wallace (Popo) and Evelyn Bachman, brother Lynn Bachman. Honorary Pall Bearers are Grandson’s; Derrick Bachman, Kyle Bachman, Ryan Hitz, Josh Schmidt, Nathan Smith, Harrison Smith, Matt Sullivan, Andrew Smith, Mitchell Steffen. Memorial service 10:30am Monday, February 23, 2015 at First United Methodist Church 2723 N. 50th Lincoln, NE. Family will receive and greet friends on Sunday February 22, 2015 from 5-7pm at the church in the West Vestry. In lieu of flowers memorials to Nebraska Wesleyan University or Babe Ruth Baseball.
