When he was young the family moved to Nebraska and Robert graduated from Lincoln High in 1948. One of his first jobs after graduation was at Gold's Food Basket, from there he got a job as a food broker for JH Kinney Co. where he remained for the rest of his career. He married Louise Everett in June 1951, and they had two sons, Doug and Steve.
He was passionate and dedicated to the things that mattered to him: family, Nebraska football and fishing. Many mornings you could find him on the lake fishing, a favorite pastime he shared with Doug and Steve. He also loved woodworking and was capable of making most anything, but his two grandsons came along most of his woodworking skills were making wooden swords for them to play with. He was also quite the pool player and taught his grandsons Chris and Landon how to play pool.
Later he enjoyed watching both his grandsons play basketball. Weekends were reserved for rooting on the Huskers, and into his final days he would happily talk about the Volleyball or Football team's most recent win (or loss- he was loyal).
He is survived by son Doug and Erika Schmidt and Steve and Connie Schmidt and two Grandchildren
Chris and Hannah Schmidt and Landon and Mallory Schmidt, and three great grandchildren Eleanor Louise, Hadley Mae, and Dean Robert.
He was a good man that lived a good life, and he was loved by many.
