Ray graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1960 he joined the Air Force National Guard where he was a mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and returned to Lincoln where he married Marlene Jenkins. Ray received his PhD at Colorado State and moved back to Lincoln where he attended University of Nebraska - Lincoln and studied cell biology. He was employed by UNL's Dental College and taught cell biology until his retirement. Ray and Marlene built a home on an acreage near Garland, NE. He enjoyed working on cars, raising Shepherd show dogs, and drinking PBR. Ray was a member of the Masonic Shriner.
Ray is survived by his nephew, Paul (Sara) Bieber; cousin, Mary Holmquist; and "daughter," Christine Kamphaus. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; parents, Emma and William Bieber; brother, Don Bieber; along with other cherished friends and family members.
