Ralph was born September 23, 1935 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the first of three sons born to Floyd and Dorothy Harris. He graduated in 1953 from Lincoln Northeast High School and proudly served in the Nebraska Air National Guard for six years. He and Darlene (Wade) Harris united in marriage May 5th, 1954. They enjoyed 54 years resulting in four wonderful children and a lifetime of memories when Darlene passed away from heart disease.
His hobbies were watching, talking and cheering for the Nebraska Cornhusker football team with family, metal detecting, fishing and visiting with family at the Kohn cabin in Minnesota, cheering the family fencers, soccer players, band members, science experimenters…you name it, if we LOVED it--He LOVED it and learned all he could about our current interests.
He worked in the soils testing division of the Nebraska Department of Roads for over 40 years as a dedicated and insightful member of that team, employing a brain that could recall details accurately no matter how much time had elapsed since the learning of them.
After retirement he and Darlene moved from their lifelong home of Lincoln, Nebraska to the warm, dry climate of Bullhead City, AZ where they enjoyed spending time together late at night gambling side by side at the casinos.
He will be deeply missed, but leaves us the example of making our first focus the good in others and ourselves and to be content with what we have.
Preceded in death by parents Floyd and Dorothy Harris and wife Darlene.
