I was sorry to hear the news today of Niles death.  I first met Niles in college at Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity in Lincoln.  Though out the years I would visit Niles in Lincoln , especially during Football Season! Niles hospitality was Beyond the Normal to say the least. He was always easy to chat with even if it had been months since the last visit.

My Thoughts go to his Daughter and Grandkids.

I am sorry to hear that Nile's has gained his angel wings. I enjoyed hanging out with him and spending the late night/early morning hours watching House Hunters. He was so giving, accepting and enjoyed others company, as long as you didn't talk too much. :)
He will be missed.

Our condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Niles "Big Guy" Jobst. I played a lot of golf with Niles both at Mahoney and Crooked Creek. Always a true gentleman and worthy competitor. Best times of course were spent in the 19th hole!

Niles was my best friend. Always treated me like a brother, Always there for me. We shared  many interests and could talk for hours. We were also next door neighbors for 37 years. When i needed help he always stepped up. I too lived in the duplex on Cleveland ave. at one time
I will miss Niles every day and I am a better person for having known him.  RIP my friend.

Jan, I am so sorry.  I understand how devastating it is to lose a Parent.  Hang in there.  It does get better.
I will miss Niles so very much.  Fifty years ago, around this time, Niles offered to rent his basement apartment to me shortly after the passing of his father.  I was sorely in need of a place to live and he offered me a HOME.  He instantly became a big brother to me and a friend I will NEVER forget.  We had so many fun and oft-times hilarious times just hanging out in his living room, on golf courses, and bowling on the same team,  I will never forget what a good man he was; how smart, funny and generous.  Niles, to us, it will always be "five after seven".  You will not be forgotten. 

I enjoyed sharing my life with Niles from 1976 to 1985. We moved into the new house he built on Mahoney Golf Course in 1976 with my two cats, Margaret and Wayward. We were known by our friends as "The Big Guy" and "The Bubba". Niles was intelligent, funny and a gentle soul. A loyal and generous friend to so many. I learned so much from him and continued to stay in touch for the 36 years since I left. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to spend some prime years with him and will miss him deeply.

Niles was a dear friend that will be very missed.  
At first, he helped me with employment 30 years ago, but we quickly became friends, a friendship that lasted decades after our professional association ended. One unique thing that I always credited Niles with was providing an environment where I could transition into a capable professional and developing skills that greatly benefited me later in my career.  In other words, Niles unknowingly became one of my most influential mentors.  Niles understood me better than any other colleague, developed my strongest skills, and nurtured my confidence.  
Though life took me to many far away places, we always kept in touch; and we'd always have a good time together when I visited Lincoln.  
Our last conversation was only a few weeks ago and we talked longer than usual, an opportunity for which I'm grateful.  Niles was generous in so many ways and it was always a pleasure to spend time with him.  Though there were numerous times we were on opposite sides of an issue, I always found him to be respectful and open-minded.  Overall, I appreciated his sincerity, reliability, honor, trustworthiness, and friendship.  I'll always remember him.  Rest in peace, friend.

Janelle, so sorry for your loss. THE BIG GUY and us have been friends for over 45 years . I always knew if I needed anything at all He would with out question help me with whatever I needed. we had many adventures together and an abundance of laughs. It was very hard to watch His decline these past years. He was a good man and a good friend. He will be missed. I am sorry to say I will be out of town Thursday just know You and He will be in our thoughts. John and Elaine Thompson
