Merwin Duane Frohn

Merwin Duane Frohn, age 89, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born on May 12, 1934 to W. Louis and Lorine (Miller) Frohn and grew up around Martell, NE before moving to Lincoln for work. He was married on January 16, 1955 to the love of his life, Eleanor Joan “Jo” Drake, for 52 years, 51 weeks. She preceded him in death in January of 2008.

He worked for Gooch’s Mill/ADM for 42 years and Durst Auto Auction for 15 years. His many interests included talking about his early life on the farm, ballroom dancing, 10-point pitch, cribbage, all NE sports, reading a good western paperback, or finding a deal on a good piece of Heisey glassware. His love of big band music was evident in his knowledge of it’s history and how many records he has.

Merwin is survived by his children, Douglas (Adrianne) Frohn, Lori (Jerry) Haas, Lincoln; grandchildren, Molly (Jacob) Wavada, John Haas, Lincoln; Emma (Travis) Smith and great-grandchildren, Elijah and Tucker Smith, Ericson; brothers and sister-in-law, Arvin and Sandy Frohn, Lincoln; Warren Frohn and Barbara Tritsch, Auburn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and LaLanne Drake, Lincoln; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

A visitation for Merwin will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68512. A private family graveside service will occur Friday, January 12, 2024 at Lincoln Memorial Park. A memorial service will take place Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Oak Lake Evangelical Free Church, 3300 N 1st St., Lincoln, NE 68521.

Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
