Mrs. Melvina E. Parker

Born 03/03/24 to Fred and Elsie Grooms. She grew up on a farm south of Sparks,NE. She graduated from high school in Valentine, NE in 1942. She taught school for two years at a country school north of Valentine. November 11, 1944 she married William Parker, Sr and to that marriage 3 sons were born.

She and Bill farmed for a few years before moving to Valentine. There she worked at the Valentine Hospital where she obtained her LPN license. In 1961 the family moved to Lincoln. She was a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1961 until 1987. After retirement she volunteered at St. Elizabeth for 20 plus years. She moved to Havelock Manor Assisted Living in October, 2016 and lived there until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Sr; her son Alfred; brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons: William (Gayla) and Ralph, all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Tammi (Neil) Davidson of Fremont, Jeff (Mindy) Parker of Lincoln; 10 great grand children; many nieces and nephews.
