Martin graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1984 as a Nebraska Law Enforcement Officer. He worked as a deputy at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office from 1984-90. During his employment there, he graduated from Kearney State College with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. In January 1990, Martin was hired as a Special Agent (Criminal Investigator) by USDA-OIG in Los Angeles, California. During his employment with USDA-OIG, he also worked in Denver, Colorado, before moving to Lincoln in 1993. He retired from USDA-OIG in November 2015. He was most recently working for a private security firm as security in the ER at Bryan East, where he formed many friendships along with being reacquainted with people he had known through his career in law enforcement.
Martin enjoyed photography. He loved photographing landscapes and, especially, sunsets. He loved Husker football. He loved spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dog, Abby.
Survived by his loving wife of 32 years Julie (Huffman) Dahlke; daughter Kaitlyn (Nathan) Lickei; mother Amelia Dahlke; mother-in-law Fern Huffman; sister Marilyn (Dale) Earl; sister-in-law Jan (Kevin) Weigum; nieces Jessica (Justin) Clark and Haley Weigum; nephews Casey (Heather) Dahlke, Colby (Michelle) Dahlke, Connor Dahlke, Britian (Kim) Luthy, and Zach Weigum; great niece Chancylor Scott; great nephews Caden Dahlke and Max Clark; his dog Abby; other relatives; and many friends.
Preceded in death by his father John, his brother Ken, his infant brother Jeffrey, father-in-law Gerald Huffman, and sister-in-law Jill (Huffman) Luthy.
