Marian A Farkas

Marian Audrey “Med” Farkas passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023 in Lincoln. Marian was born February 7, 1924, in Hoople, North Dakota to Leo and Catherine Parkins. Following high school in Hoople, Marian and her dearest friend travelled to Lincoln in 1942 where upon she met her future husband, SFC James Farkas, stationed at the Lincoln Army Airforce base. They dated and married April 21, 1944, and resided in numerous homes throughout Lincoln over the ensuing 60 years until Jim passed on May 4, 2004. Marian then enjoyed her remaining years residing for 7 years in Savannah Pines Retirement Center until compelled to move to a nursing care facility until she too, passed to join Jim.

Marian is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey, Tucson, AZ and his wife, Cheryl, and Marian’s two grandchildren, Anthony and Mary Elizabeth also of Tucson. Her second son, James, resides with his wife, Courtney, in Lincoln; her three grandchildren Michael Farkas of Hickman, Parker Neumann of Lincoln, and Bailey Neumann of Lincoln. Marian will be remembered fondly for the love she shared with her two close sisters Carole Malinowski, Glendale, CA and Shirley Moulton, Lincoln; her nieces, nephews and numerous friendships Marian and Jim developed and cherished over 81 years. Marian will be buried alongside Jim in the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. A memorial to remember Marian’s very loving and giving 99 years of life is planned for later in Lincoln.
