Letty M. Phelps

She was born on June 30, 1925 to Cora (Gaisford) and Clarence Mann, the youngest of 14 children.

Letty grew up in the Beatrice area and graduated from Beatrice High School. She married her classmate, Robert Phelps, in June of 1943. In 1961, they moved to Lincoln.

Letty was a homemaker and took great pleasure in providing a loving home for her husband and three children, Barbara, Cathy and Bob.

She found happiness in the simple joys of life. Letty loved to travel with Bob and later with friends. She enjoyed golfing, reading, card playing, putting puzzles together, bingo, and good food. She especially enjoyed sweets. So many of her friends kept her well supplied.

Letty treasured the time spent at home with friends and family. On Saturdays in the fall, you could find her cheering for the Huskers. In the spring she became a devoted KC Royals fan.

Letty is survived by her son, Bob Phelps and wife Marcia; her daughter Cathy and husband Bob Marker; grandsons Mitch and Tim Phelps, Blake (Nicolle) Robinson, Bobby (Norma) Marker; granddaughter Mary (Loni) Marker; great-granddaughters Crystal (Tyler) Baker, Mariah Marker, Ava Phelps; great-great-grandchildren Ben Marker, Zoe and Kailey Baker.

She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 56 years, her daughter Barbara Robinson, her son-in-law Ron Robinson, and great-grandson Cameron Phelps, as well as her parents and brothers and sisters.

Letty’s warmth and love touched the lives of so many. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

A memorial service for Letty will be held on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 1621 Superior St., Lincoln, Nebraska 68521. Memorials in Letty’s honor are designated to St. Jude’s or a charity of your choice.
