Lanny was born on September 21, 1970, in David City, Nebraska, and graduated from Allen Consolidated Schools. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, where he held the role of Cannon Master and played basketball. He built a successful career as a software engineer, driven by a love of learning, problem-solving, and the opportunity to serve others through technology.
Deeply committed to his community, Lanny served on the Lincoln Board of Education beginning in 2011 and held the role of President of the Nebraska Association of School Boards. He was especially passionate about supporting students and was a thoughtful, dedicated volunteer for many education-focused organizations, particularly those connected to his children's schools.
More than anything, Lanny cherished time spent with his five children. Lanny is survived by his loving children, Becky (Aaron) Evans, Emily Segieda, Mary Boswell, Taz Boswell, Andrea Boswell; parents, Larry and Kathy Boswell; grandmother, Carol Jackson; brother, Kelly (Beth Matcshullat) Boswell; 2 grandchildren, Lewis and Harriett Evans; niece, Amelia Boswell; nephew, Oliver Boswell; and many other relatives and friends.
Lanny will be remembered for his generous spirit, his commitment to education and community service, and the deep love he had for his family.
