Kevin was born on November 3, 1961 at West Point Memorial Hospital in West Point, Nebraska. He was the son of Richard and Rosemary Benne. Kevin grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and had 3 siblings: Greg, Rhonda and Sharon.
As a young boy, Kevin liked making model planes and rockets. Kevin started working at Jerry's Barbershop part-time shining shoes while in grade school and worked up to receptionist. He left Jerry's in high school to work at Burger King. It was at Burger King that Kevin met Vicki Brentzel; he didn't know it then but he would marry Vicki 6 years later.
Kevin graduated from Bergan Fremont High School in 1980 and moved to Lincoln, NE to attend barber college. After graduating he returned to Fremont, NE and began barbering.
On March 24, 1984, Kevin married Vicki Brentzel at United Church of Christ of Fremont, Nebraska. Shortly thereafter, they began their family of 3 sons: Andrew (AJ), Brian and Keith and made Lincoln, NE their home.
Kevin decided to go back to college and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. He then began substitute teaching at Trinity Lutheran School where his sons attended. He was very active in the school, teaching and volunteering including holding the VP and President positions of the PTL. In addition, Kevin coached baseball and soccer for his son's teams.
Kevin's love for remodeling and construction began with their 1st home. He went on to build a potting shed at their acreage and then built a family cabin at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. The cabin build took many years and involved his extended family.
Kevin's main hobby was spending time with family. The lake cabin was busy in the summer and Kevin ensured everyone had a wonderful time. His other favorite place was Rocky Mountain National Park. He enjoyed driving and hiking thru the park with family.
One of Kevin's greatest blessings was the gift of his four grandchildren, Easton, Emma, Chuck and Tessa. Kevin loved to spend time with his grandchildren including spoiling them.
Services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Date and time to be finalized upon Kevin's earthly body being returned to Lincoln. Kevin will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Kevin was a good and kind person, an individual who will be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives.
