Ken served his country proudly in the Korean War with the United States Army and was honored to display KOR3A VT on his vanity plates.
Ken and Norma Ruth Bennett married in Fairview Kansas March 14, 1954 had had three children.
He was employed numerous years in the Airline Industry, 45 years with Frontier Airlines, briefly with Continental Airlines, eventually finished this chapter of his airline career with United.
After his lengthy airline career he drove the UNL shuttle bus for parking Transit Services a "job" he enjoyed very much.
Finally,"finally" retiring from work forever at the age of 85, Avis was his last gig.
Ken is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ruth. His mother and father, Cora and Marvin Houchens and sister Norma Glotzbach.
Ken is survived by his sons Doug, Gene and wife Sue, daughter Denise, grandsons, Justin Cochran and his wife Lisa, Zachary Houchens, Mary Buerstetta and sons, Brian, Alan and Jeff.

A visitation for Kenneth will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
