Judy Hunt, age 82, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Friday August 11th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 3rd, 1941, the youngest of eleven siblings. She attended and graduated from Northeast High School and met her beloved husband of 60 years George Hunt while working at the telephone company as an operator. She leaves behind her husband George Hunt, her three children Shari (Scott) Barnhill, grandsons Dalton and Braxton Barnhill, Gary (Kelli) Hunt, Jenny Hunt, her brother Joe Swenson, sister Helen (Leo) Sougey and several nieces and nephews, there are too many to name, but she loved them all. She was also very close with George's sister Carol (Tom) Williams, they had lots of laughs throughout the years.
Judy was an amazing woman who fought hard her entire life and her stubbornness allowed her to beat the odds. He doctors told her she would not live past 40, an age she obviously surpassed! She was also told that having kids could put her life in danger, however she managed to have and raise three children she loved very much and would do absolutely anything for.
Judy loved spending time with her very large and in charge family which included bowling with her sisters and her mother, traveling to tournaments, involvement in the Red Hat Ladies, family vacations with her kids and several large family gatherings throughout the years on all the major holidays. Her family had 5 living generations at one point in time so these gatherings had to be eventually moved to a church basement to accommodate them all.
George and Judy lived in the home they built to raise their children for over 50 years, at this home they made some amazing friends with their neighbors that they came to love as family. They had several impromptu driveway gatherings with lots of laughs.
Another very large part of her life was spent with their Shrine family, her and George attended 3-4 activities per week at times, Judy loved her Shrine friends, the parades and all the fun events they were blessed to attend throughout the years. Her last home was at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She was only there for 7 months but they took amazing care of her.
Judy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
