Johnny (John) Lape, 82 of Lincoln passed away June 20, 2015. Johnny was born on Valentine’s Day in 1933 to Orie and Jessie Lape in Beatrice, NE. Johnny married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Schroeder on December 21, 1953; they celebrated 61 years together. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and skeet shooter. Johnny owned two businesses in his lifetime. He was a Painting Contractor for over 30 years, and then bought 40 acres of land across the road from Blue Stem Lake and established a Christmas tree farm and nursery called, Blue Stem Pines. He is survived by his 3 children, Cynthia (Craig) Lee; Steven Lape and Tracy Groth; six granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Pat Stevens; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; his parents; and a sister, Carol Horky. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday June 25, 2015 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home (6800 S. 14TH Street) in Lincoln. Inurnment will follow at 1:45 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park. There will be no public visitation. Memorials have been suggested to the family for future designation.
