John B. Kline age 91 of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Lancaster Manor. He was born on November 13, 1925 in Lincoln to Charles W. and Opal J. (Benjamin) Kline. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the US Navy on the USS Pyro during World War II. John was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended the University of Nebraska studying art and photography. John played the coronet in the University marching band. Scouting was important to John all of his life, he attained Eagle Scout. In his adult years he served as a scout master. He enjoyed going to World Fairs and was a collector of many things. John was a big booster of the University of Nebraska sports. He had a long standing record of attending home games. John is survived by his sister-in-law, Marlyn Kline of Davenport, Iowa; nephew, Gary Kline of Onalaska, Wisconsin; niece, Janis Bickford of Davenport, Iowa; other extended family; close family friends, Ken Darby of Lincoln; Dr. Richard Powell of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Warnke; brother, Richard Kline. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
