Jay Alan Sveen, 66, of Lincoln, NE passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 23, 1956 in Sioux Falls, SD to Roger and Marcene (Jacobs) Sveen. Jay was a nurse anesthetist at Lincoln Surgical Hospital since its inception. He was passionate about travel including many trips to Disney and various cruises. While not working or traveling, he spent time perfecting his swing on the golf course including at his second home in Queen Creek, AZ. He was passionate about giving back to local and global communities and continued to do so even while ill with pancreatic cancer.
Jay is survived by his wife, Melissa. Children, Jared (Leah) Sveen of Lincoln, Stephanie (Will) Hansen of Elkhorn, and Daniel (Stacy) Sveen of Lincoln. Grandchildren, Emery and Leighton Sveen, Gavin and Camryn Hansen, Braxton, Beckham, and Blake Sveen. Sisters, Jodie (Ed) Kusek, Jean (Randy) Wold, Joan (John) Kurus, and Julie Sveen. In-laws, Evelyn Angelos, Melanie Angelos, and Brock (Amy) Angelos. Nephews, Adam, Alex, Noah, and Nick. Nieces, Katie, Amanda, Adrianne, Hailey, Allison, and Adrienne. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Marcene, his brother Michael, his brother-in-law Brad Angelos, and his great niece Charlie.
The family invites friends and loved ones to a time of remembrance on Thursday, January 5th from 4-8pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 6th at 10:30am at First Evangelical Free.
