Fred Thomas Gilliland, age 88 passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Fred was born in Union City, Tennessee on April 8, 1936 to Johny Henderson Gilliland and Vera Ella Willhauck. Fred is survived by his wife Illa Mae Gilliland, son Gary (Mary) Gilliland, grandson Lukas (Kailee) Gilliland, great grandchildren Theodore and Wesley Gilliland, step-kids Angie (Avo) Runyan and Stacey Runyan, along with six step grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents Johny and Vera, son Larry Gilliland, four sisters, and four brothers, and his two dogs Muff and Jazzy. Fred was a United States Air Force Veteran who fought in the Korean War. Fred loved his Nebraska football team as well as other Nebraska sports teams. Fred enjoyed going for walks and being outside doing yard work. Fred will be missed by many friends and family.
Fred will be laid to rest on August 1, 2024 at 11 am in Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, NE 68138. For more information visit www.lincolnfh.com
