Emil L. Vokoun, 89, of Hallam passed away May 16th in Lincoln. Born November 15, 1925 in Hallam to Emil and Albie (Koci) Vokoun. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara; sons Bruce (Kathy), David (Beth) and Dan (Cori) and daughter Doreen Cole (Patrick); 10 grandchildren and spouses; 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Irene Hraban and Evelyn Dodson, brothers Victor Vokoun and Stanley Vokoun. Emil was a lifelong resident of Hallam, where he grew up on the family farm. He served aboard the USS Borie during World War II in the US Navy. After the war, he and Barb married. They spent their working years raising their family and operating a dairy farm outside Hallam. During his lifetime, he was an avid farmer and gardener who loved to grow and share his produce with family and friends. He and Barb enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #294, past Commander and Honor Guard of American Legion Post, member of Hallam UCC, National and State Holstein Association, and Honorary FFA member. He was a loving, witty, and spirited husband, father, and grandfather, he will be loved and missed by many. Visitation from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, May 20th with family present from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be Thursday, May 21st at 10:00am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home with internment immediately following at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials in lieu of flowers to Hallam United Congregational Church or Hallam Fire and Rescue.
