Meyer, Eldo H, age 96 of Weslaco, TX formerly of Lincoln, died Saturday, May 17, 2014. Born in Martell, NE to Louis and Amelia (Obermeyer) Meyer. Eldo was very active in 4-H, winning ribbons in the Lancaster County and Nebraska State fairs. After moving to Graham County, KS he helped organize and was the first President of the Graham County 4-H Club and then helped to develop other 4-H clubs as well. Eldo was awarded the Carl Gray (Rock Island Railroad) “Outstanding 4-H Club Member, receiving a one year scholarship to the Kansas State Agricultural College. An Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, he served two and a half years in the European Theatre. He was an aerial engineer (crew chief) on C-47 airplanes. His squadron was awarded the President’s Unit Citation for outstanding performance. After the war, Eldo and Erma (Kohlmeier) were married at Trinity Lutheran in Lincoln, NE. Eldo graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture in 1948. He was a member of Farm House Fraternity and Alpha Zeta Scholastic Honorary Fraternity and a candidate for a Rhodes scholarship. He was a Farm Management supervisor for Farmers National Farm Management Company, General Sales Manager for Walnut Grove Products (Atlantic, IA) and a member of the National Sales Executives Club of America Feed Manufacturers Association. He also farmed and managed personal farming interests for many years. He relocated to TX after retiring. Eldo was also a conservative political activist supporting Pres. Reagan, Gov. Branstad and Sen. Grassley. Very active in the Lutheran Church as a Sunday School Superintendent, narrated Church services on local radio; member of the Iowa District Board; Presidents Advisory Council for the Seminary at Ft. Wayne, IN.He is survived by his wife, Erma, married 69 years; sons William (and Judy), Kiehi, HI; David (and Marsha), Columbia, MO; Thomas (and Wanda), Lake Park, GA; grandsons Chad (and Kim), Omaha, NE; Nick, Lake Park, GA; Step - Grandson, Keith Missildine, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters Emily (and Jay), Columbia, MO; Heather (and Mike), South Korea; great grandsons Ethan and Ryan, Omaha, NE. Friday, June 20, 2014 all proceedings will take place at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S. 14th St. Lincoln, NE: Graveside service with military honors will be at 9:00AM followed by the Memorial service at 11:00AM and then fellowship with sandwiches and beverages.
