Douglas (Doug) L. Fargo, age 80, passed away Nov 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 4, 1943 in Port Huron, Michigan. Doug graduated from Omaha North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Army on February 9, 1965. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard for almost 40 years and retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.
Doug married Judi on November 22, 1969 in Omaha, Nebraska. Doug and Judi lived in Omaha for four years as Doug worked in the Nebraska National Guard Maintenance Shop. He later commuted to Camp Ashland. Doug was promoted to Inventory and Supply Specialist while at Camp Ashland. In 1973, Doug and Judi moved to Lincoln as Doug was promoted to work in the Division of Logistics, then later promoted to work in Finance, and finally as an Auditor. After retiring from the Nebraska National Guard, he worked for Region V, then Cabela’s Catalog which became Capital One Credit Card Banking.
Doug had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed fishing, collecting belt buckles, was a founding member of the Early Ford V8 Club, and a member of the Prairie Bowmen Archery Club. However, his favorite hobby was looking at cars and getting ice cream afterwards.
Doug was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Doug and Judi enjoyed traveling together, going to concerts, having dinner with friends, and playing card games. They also enjoyed going to their children’s and grandchildren's sporting events, marching band competitions, and countless other activities.
Doug is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judi Fargo; daughters Angela (Kyle) Fargo-Carlson, Rachelle (Kevin Palko) Fargo; sons, Christopher (Helen Cross) Fargo, Nicholas (Ashley) Fargo; grandchildren, Drue, Ellie, Abbi, Avery, and Emma. Preceded in death by his mother, Violet Palik; and grandson, Oliver Fargo.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a service at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial, 6800 S 14th Street, Lincoln. Goodrich Ice Cream (Doug’s favorite) will be served after the service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
