Donna Lee Williams was born July 22, 1933 and left this earthly plain on July 16, 2023. She was born in Lincoln to Georgia Mae (Hardwick) and Jack Monroe Williams and lived her entire life in the same home in her beloved Havelock.
Donna worked at many Lincoln businesses and governmental agencies, including Elgin Watch Company, Central Telephone and Utilities, Health and Human Services, and Region V Systems.
She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and provided them support and friendship without reservation. In turn, long term friends did not hesitate to provide support and assistance to her when she, herself, was in need. She will be missed by her sister-in-law and niece, Angela and Heather Williams of Lincoln, as well as friends Carla and Jim, Linda, Gladys, Andrew, Penny and Charlotte.
She loved cats, Elvis, cooking, and gardening-- her tomatoes were the best anywhere and she shared them freely with others. Donna also kept up with the times: she took computer classes, so she was able to continue working to the age of 72. She always knew what was going on in the world, being a radio news junkie. One of her greatest claims to fame and a source of great pride was the fact that she was related to Abraham Lincoln.
While failing eyesight and hearing loss made life in recent years difficult at times, Donna remained able to make us laugh and tell the tales of her long, industrious life. In 2013, she wrote, “I’ve lived a good and simple life in this house for 80 years. Mom moved here with eight children, grandma, her high back chair, spittoon, and one cow.’ It was her aim to remain in her home and she was able to meet that goal.
Donna will be laid to rest next to her beloved mother. No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be sent to the family in care of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home to help defray burial expenses.
