Donald L. Sanford, 87 of Lincoln passed away June 16, 2015. He was born September 30, 1927 to August Belmont Sanford and Agnes (Olson) Sanford at South Sioux City, NE. Donald was a graduate of Lincoln High, where he was a standout player on the baseball team. After high school he served in the US Army during WWII as a medic. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Nebraska Wesleyan University as well as the University of Nebraska College of Law. He enjoyed gardening and traveling to historic places, but above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. Donald is survived by his daughters, Sherril (Matt) Aden and Donelle (Tom) Klassen; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild as well as 4 nieces and nephews. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents and his beloved wife Nancy. A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be Saturday June 20, 2015 at 9:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Memorials in his memory may be given to Capital Humane Society.
