Della Louise (Mahoney) Lesoing, 92 of Lincoln passed away in her home Monday, September 18, 2023 surrounded by her daughters. Della was born January 17, 1931 in Ulysses, Nebraska to William and Clara Mahoney.
Della was considered the ‘matriarch’ of her family by many. Although she sometimes pretended to defer decision making, she was a strong and decisive woman who trusted her instincts and was afraid of nothing. Della and her husband co-owned W.R. Lesoing Mechanical Contracting. After Bill’s passing, she assumed responsibility for her commercial property management and continued this until early 2021. She loved being a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She loved spending time gardening cooking and hosting family. She wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by those she loved. As a child she lived in Millerton, David City, and finally in Lincoln, where she graduated from Northeast High School in 1948. She loved to talk about her high school years and maintained friendships with many of her classmates. In 1949, she married W.R. (Bill) Lesoing and together they made a family for 55 years until Bill’s passing in 2004. They raised four daughters Diane Vogel (Charles Vogel), Jennifer Lesoing-Lucs (Norbert Lucs), R. Annette Kurth (Tim Sercl), and Lorele Lesoing (Doug Dittoe). Her daughters were her pride and joy. While each of them chose a different path in life, they are all strong and decisive in their own ways. In addition to her daughters Della is survived by four grandchildren, Stephanie Siemsen (Matt), Chad Vogel (Mindy) Evan Kurth (Daanielle Wilson), and Katherine Kurth (Alex Ratliff), and five great grandchildren, Garrett and Brett Siemsen and Conner, Ava and Bennett Vogel. She is also survived by Mia, her beloved dog and faithful companion for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents William and Clara (Humpal) Mahoney, siblings Gean Statler, Betty Pekarek, Jody Shorney and Frank Mahoney and great granddaughter Burklee Della Vogel.
