Deborah Lynn Sheldon-Jesch

Deborah L Sheldon-Jesch, 66, of Lincoln passed away peacefully on July 22, 2017 after a courageous three year battle with lung cancer. She was in her home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. Deb was born on November 13, 1950 in Lincoln, NE to James and Roberta (Knapp) Sheldon. She graduated from Lincoln High in 1969 and received her associate’s degree after returning to Lincoln with her family in 1985. Deb was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jeff, in 1971. Together they raised three children: Rachel, Travis and Brandon. They lived for several years in Bellevue, NE where Deb was a homemaker. In 1980, they moved to Jeff’s hometown of Stratton, NE where Deb continued to care for her family and become very involved in the community. She even managed the swimming pool and helped coach softball in the summer. In the mid 80’s, Deb and her family moved to her hometown of Lincoln where she obtained her degree in accounting and began her career with the state of Nebraska. She worked for the Department of Revenue for 29 years, retiring in February of 2016. Family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 46 years, daughter, Rachel (Chris) Hillman of Lincoln, NE, son, Brandon (Jill) Jesch of Denver, CO, grandchildren, Addison and Olyvia Hillman and Owen Jesch. Father and mother-in-law, Bud (Donna) Jesch of Stratton, NE, brother, David (Lisa) Sheldon of Bellevue, NE, sister-in-law, Luisa Sheldon of La Habra, CA, sister-in-law, Vicki Brown of North Platte, NE, brother-in-law, Doug (Deb) Jesch of Kearney, NE, sister-in-law Monica (Paul) Valdez of Parker, CO and brother-in-law Brad (Tami Jo) Jesch of Stratton, NE and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family members greeting Deb in heaven include her parents, brother, Bill Sheldon, and son, Travis. Deb was a member of North American Martyrs Church and would often talk about the classes and instruction she enjoyed receiving there. Deb loved spending time with family and friends and was always making plans for a get together of one kind or another. She was known for her love of the color purple, chocolate, QVC, Younkers, teddy bears and dragonflies. Her greatest joy by far, was being a Grammy. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always looked forward to her granddaughters’ volleyball games and visits with her grandson. Visitation is Thursday July 27, 2017 with family greeting from 5 – 7 p.m. at North American Martyrs, 1101 Isaac Drive, Lincoln, NE with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday July 28, 2017, 11 a.m. at North American Martyrs with luncheon to follow. Interment at 2 p.m., Lincoln Memorial Park 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE.
