Dale Ruhl was born to Daniel and Evelyn Ruhl in Beatrice, NE. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953 during the Korean war. Dale spent two years at the US naval base in Yokosuka, Japan and then two years on two ships - seeing much of the world in the process. In 1955, Dale married his longtime wife, Erma. They were together for 67 years. Dale worked in several floor covering businesses, both in retail and wholesale. He also served as a territory manager for a pair of major carpet manufacturers. After retirement, Dale worked at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln as an event staff member, serving NU’s football, basketball, baseball and volleyball programs.
The long life of Dale Ruhl was an unqualified success. Prominent on the list of reasons are his 67-year marriage to Erma; three children; marvelous grandchildren; decades of enviable good fortune from an ongoing series of business ventures; and fun, fulfillment and happy times, surrounded by family and friends.
As with all of us, Dale’s inevitable passing brings shock and sadness. But his warmth and the high quality of his life will surely live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him. And for those he’s leaving behind, confidence is also sky-high that Dale has already moved on to a rewarding resting place. In addition, it’s comforting to realize that Dale Ruhl’s peaceful passing will allow us to think of him often in the days ahead, and to remember this good man always with very special fondness.
