Christopher Scott Benson, age 55, of Eagle, Nebraska, passed on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Christopher was born on July 17, 1963 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was raised in Lincoln by mother, Rosanne Peterson and father, Robert Benson. He was married in Lincoln to Christine (Wolf) Benson on May 26, 1995. He graduated from Lincoln East High School and University of Lincoln. Christopher was working at Gallup Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska.
Christopher, or as he was known by his friends, Benny, was a lover of many critters. He loved all the dogs and cats he met. He bird-watched and fished every chance he got. Hunting ducks, pheasants, quails, and geese was his favorite way to spend chilly mornings. During the warmer months of the year, he was known to be outside constantly, either working on cars or gardening.
He was an avid sports fan; playing and coaching hockey and baseball, and attempting to play basketball despite his rebelling knees. He participated in fantasy football league, watched drag car and sprint car races, and played poker weekly with friends.
Christopher was known for his love of fireworks and knowledge. He always set up spectacular, heart-pounding fireworks displays on the Fourth of July. Christopher also taught those around him to study their world and learn from it. He loved teaching new things to his children as often as he could.
He was preceded in death by step-mother Sharon Benson; step-father Peter Peterson; grandparents Earl and Ila Benson, Joe and Marie Rinke.
He is survived by three, strong-willed children: Brandi (24), Dillon (22), Devin (20); wife Christine; mother Rosanne, stepfather Greg, and father Robert; brothers: Jeff and Jay McCoy and family. Other survivors include in-laws and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Lincoln Memorial. Address: 6800 S 14th St. Lincoln, NE
