Carol Loree (Schell) May, 82, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Southlake Village in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral Services are at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 162nd and Old Cheney Rd, Walton. Interment at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park, meet at gate #2. Born August 14, 1932 the third of Harry and Anna Schell’s six children, Carol grew up on the family farm near Roca and graduated from Central High School (Sprague/Martell). On November 26, 1950, Carol married Boyne May and they made their home in Sprague. In 1959, Boyne and Carol moved to a farm near Bennet, where they raised their family and farmed together for 35 more years, until Boyne’s death in 1994. Carol remained on the farm until moving to Bickford Cottage in 2012, and then to Southlake Village in 2015. Carol enjoyed gardening, always willing to share strawberries, cucumbers or homemade salsa with anyone she knew. She also loved to feed and watch the birds around her home, and to yell at the invading squirrels. Never afraid of hard work, Carol did whatever it took to help make the farm go, from staying up all night pulling pigs to bottle-feeding calves to driving a grain truck. And she loved to walk, wearing out one pair of shoes after another from her daily 5-mile treks. Carol is survived by brothers Richard, Roca, Lawrence (Marti), Lincoln and Dwight (Mary), Lincoln, children Dave (Kathy), Bennet, Deb (Greg) Pavey, Bennet, Rod (Heidi), Brookings, South Dakota, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by husband Boyne, sisters LaVonne and Harriet, and son Randy.
