Bonnie Joan (Tatem) Priel, 76, of Hickman, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Born on January 15, 1948, Bonnie dedicated her life to the care and support of others, both through her career and personal life.
Bonnie was born in Kearney, NE and lived in Poole and Hastings, NE. She attended Hastings College and later earned her nursing degree from UNL. She served her community as a registered nurse specializing in hospice care, family practice, school nursing, and obstetrics. Her compassion and dedication to nursing were evident in her unwavering support and care for her patients.
A devout member of the Berean Church of Lincoln, Bonnie faithfully attended church and found great comfort and joy in her faith. Her hobbies included collecting antiques, playing the piano, and attending her grandchildren’s various school activities and events, always cheering them on with enthusiasm and pride.
Bonnie was an avid enthusiast of Czech culture, enjoying everything from kolaches to Czech festivals and polka music. This passion for her heritage was a significant part of her life, bringing joy not only to her but also to those who shared in these interests.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Robert Priel; children, Shannon (Aron) Chilson and Phillip (Becky) Priel; grandchildren, Grace (Aaron), Victoria (Cameron), and Wyatt Chilson; Draven and Rheanna Priel; great-grandchild, Lilliana; and brother, William Tatem. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Margory and Marvin Fowler, and her father, John Tatem.
Services to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM with a one hour visitation prior at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Pregnancy Crisis Center of Lincoln, Alzheimer's Association, or People's City Mission of Lincoln, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others in need. Bonnie's legacy of love, care, and community will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew her.
