Betty Lou was my cousin and the "big girl" that I looked up to when I was a little girl. We lost touch over the years, but found each other on Facebook. Reading the entries here, lets me know that she had a life filled with a lot of love. I know that we'll see each other again someday.

Love and will miss you Aunt Lou. Guess you are catching up with my Mom, Laura. Will miss our conversations. Love you always

Betty and I were wicked good friends , when we really young and working together at the HRC in Hastings. I didn't see her again for years and years when we met up again and started just like there wasn't that passage of time. I didn't know that I would miss her so much. She was a lovely person.

Betty Lou was quite a woman! She had an ornery sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was outspoken and had no problem letting you know how she felt about something. And boy could she be stubborn. Her heart belonged to her family and friends. She loved being a mom,but being a grandmother and great grandmother brought her so much joy. And then theres Cricket. She rescued Cricket and Cricket rescued her right back.
   Twinkies,donut holes,gumdrops,lemon pie,coffee,and coke were her favorite treats. She loved to crochet. She made preemie hats for babies and cancer caps. She loved hummingbirds and nature,especially the mountains. She loved to travel. 
    To watch such a strong woman battle a disease that zapped her was heartbreaking. She made her decisions on her care and knew chemo wasn't an option. 42 days from diagnosis to her passing. In those days,she made peace with what was to come. We laughed,we cried,we said things that needed to be said. Those days meant the world to us. On October 12th,she took one last sigh and then she was gone. She passed on the way she wanted.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband,Albert,her parents-Fran and Edwin Bate,and her brother,Richard Bate. 
   Mom-Thank you for being the most stubborn yet loving person I will ever know. I love you ❤

Such an amazing woman. I miss you more then words. Through the hardest two years of my life you were there for me encouraging me. I love you and miss you so much already.

My you be at peace, with Albert again, and stay a heavenly guardian angel to your family & friends. Love & miss you my wonderful cousin.

Oh, Aunt Lou. I'm never going to stop talking to you I talk to you everyday. So here's a little something for everybody else:
It's no secret that my aunt was an incredibly strong woman,who always said what was on her mind.
Several weeks ago I had a conversation with her and she told me Chrystal don't you let people push you around. You stand up for yourself!
This week, I found myself in the unenviable position of buying a new car. At one point I really felt like I was getting the runaround. Of course this probably really is what was happening because that's what used car salesman are trained to do. And I heard my Dear Aunt loud and clear! So I gave them my terms, and drove away! They called the next morning with a couple of compromises so we went back. I knew they could do better, so for the second time we drove away. Third visit: with the spirit of Aunt Lou loud and clear in the back of my head we rolled up there: not only did I get exactly what I wanted but we're getting 4 new tires as well! 
So you remember that, when you remember my Aunt. She was raised in a rough part of Kansas City, with a Bunch Of Rowdy brothers, married a Marine, raised a couple of daughters who ALWAYS kept her on her toes ;), and was an amazing grandmother and great grandmother, a PHENOMENAL AUNT. She was a woman who didn't let people push her around, and she did it with with unparalleled class and grace. I'm gonna miss her so much, but her feisty spirit will always be alive and burning in my heart.

I am deeply saddened for your loss.  I hope you find some comfort in the many wonderful memories that will forever be in your heart and knowing your mom is now pain free and with our Heavenly Father.  Prayers for you all
