Born in Kansas City, Kansas, she attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority. There she met and married John R. Williams on July 31st, 1948, in Evanston, Illinois. During their happy union they had four children: Russell, then (twins) Alexandria (Peggy) and Mary, and last David. She often laughingly said “my only accomplishment was splitting an egg” after giving birth to twin daughter. However, being a loving wife and mother, as well as a homemaker, was what she truly considered her greatest accomplishments.
An avid animal lover and cat enthusiast; she enjoyed coffee klatches, playing bridge with her friends, working crossword puzzles, antiquing, reading and attending Husker sporting events. She was a dedicated volunteer at Bryan Medical Center for more than 40 years; accruing over 17, 000 hours of service and served as buyer for the gift shop for several years.
She is survived by her children: Alexandria M. Maple (Jon), Mary Williams Dickerson (Frank) and David B. Williams (Nikki), brother Frank Sprow (Ann); grandchildren: Sean F Dickerson, Emily D Hamner (Marcus) and Callahan J Thompson (Samantha) as well as great grandson Boston Hamner and step-grandchildren Ryleigh M. Hall and Noah T Buettgenbach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Lucille Sprow; husband John R. Williams, son Russell D Williams, sister Peggy Sprow and long-term companion Richard Harnsberger.
Private family interment.
