Alice A. (Havlat) Zellers, age 80, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Born on March 4, 1945, on the family farm in Pleasant Dale, Alice was the youngest of 14 children born to Joseph and Ludmila (Kvasnicka) Havlat.
Growing up with little on the farm, Alice and her siblings made the most of what they had. Alice proved to be the one that kept everyone on their toes, always the life of the party. She loved going to dances and brought joy to those around her. At the age of 19, in Crete, NE, she met the love of her life, Chuck Zellers. Their eyes met from across the room, and it was love at first sight. They were married a year later, on June 5, 1965. Their unwavering love brought them two wonderful sons, Todd and Trevor.
Alice and Chuck lived in Crete for a short time where she worked at FormFit, then moved back to Grand Island where they spent over 10 years before settling back in Lincoln for the remainder of her years. During their time in Grand Island, Alice worked at the Cornhusker ammo plant making bombs and the horse-race track. Upon moving back to Lincoln, she worked at WC's South, where she enjoyed getting to know all the patrons. She later found her way to the horse-race track at the fairgrounds, where she was well-known and liked for many years. After retirement, Alice and Chuck loved to spend their winters at their home in Ajo, Arizona, where they had many great and fun snowbird neighbors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck; sons, Todd and Trevor; beloved sisters, Emily Vlcek and Evelyn Earnest; brother-in-laws, Phil (Judy) Zellers, Roger DelaBarre; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Ludmilla Havlat; parent-in-laws, Charles and Edith Zellers; sisters, Blanche Stastny, Bertha Strouf, Agnes Svagera, Ann Novak, Rose Rezny, Dorothy DelaBarre, and Mildred Rediger; as well as her brothers, Joe, Jim, Stanley, and Ronald Havlat.
