With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Alice Maybelle Flanagan, lovingly known as "Crazy Alice," who departed from this world on July 17, 2024, in Blairstown, Iowa. Born on April 21, 1928, in the pastoral town of Waverly, Nebraska, Alice's 96 years were woven with the rich tapestry of a life well-lived, filled with the love of family and friends.
Alice embarked on her professional journey as an elevator operator at the Equitable Building in Downtown Denver. Her warm presence and engaging smile uplifted the days of those she encountered. She later brought her talents to Winchell’s Donut Shop as a manager, and baker. Alice continued to share her leadership and warmth as the manager of the Golden Chain Gang at Lakeside Mall.
Her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit led her to found Alice’s Creations, a business where her handcrafted jewelry and decorative items were cherished for their beauty and artistry.
A woman of deep; yet casual faith, Alice lived her life showing others love and generosity.
Alice's love for BINGO, crafting beautiful handmade jewelry, intricate crochet pieces, and unique lamps brought joy to many and served as a testament to her artistic talent and zest for life.
She is survived by her daughters Marlene Mathes, and Deborah Ehlers and husband, Larry Williams, her brother, Douglas Madison; her cherished grandchildren, Jack Garramone, Edward Cox, Jenny Niss and husband Bruce, Justin Williams, Earnest (John) Williams, Elan Daly, Lady Daly, Shawna Laurie, and BreAnna Laurie; as well as twelve great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren who will all hold her memory dear.
