Adele Ilene Petracek

Adele “Ilene” Petracek, 78, of Lincoln, passed away surrounded by her family and with her cat Marshmallow on her lap, on Thursday, March 10, 2016. She was born in Fairbury, NE to Albert and Esther (Zalman) Eye. She was confirmed at age 14 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, Graduated from Fairbury High School in 1956, attended Fairbury Jr. College and started teaching in 1958 at the Martin Luther Home. In 1962 She returned to college at UNL and received her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and music education. In 1966 she received her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. Ilene taught special education K-12 in Kimball, Chapel, Centennial, Papillion LaVista, Guide Rock, Wymore and the last 23 years in Odell, retiring in 2000. She married Eugene in 1976 and made their home in Wilber. Survivors: Husband, Eugene “Pete” of Wilber, NE. Son: Mike of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Shawn Petracek of Lincoln, Tiffany Stute of Hays Center, NE and Faith Petracek of Lincoln. 1 Great-Grandchild. Sister-in-law: Pat Eye of Colorado Springs, CO. Nephew: Dr. Jeff Eye, South Barrington, Il. Niece: Jill Phillips of Colorado Springs, CO. and Julie Head of Round Rock, TX. Beloved cat: Marshmallow. Preceded in death by: Parents, Brother: Richard Eye. Sister-in-law: Ellen Garrison.
