Robert was born in San Jose, California on 6/14/1959 to Robert & Lupe Maciel Sr. both proceeding in his death. He grew up with his younger siblings Rhonda Simpson (Rod) and Regina Halderman (Doug). After graduating from high school, he went on to attend plumber trade school.
After his apprenticeship, Robert worked as a General Foreman for Ray L Hellwig Plumbing & Heating Company UA Local 393 for 38 years. He followed his father’s footsteps as a plumber and his two younger sons also did the same.
Robert has five children, Robert Maciel III (Melanie), Sonja Solorzano, Victor Solorzano (Laura), Sergio Maciel, and Angela Maciel. Robert would later meet and wed Diane Silveira and added two more children to their blended family Jordan Margetich (Colleen) and Erica Solorio (Stephanie). Robert also loved their family dog Lucy Mae, who he lovingly nicknamed Pork Chop. He is survived by fifteen grandchildren, Robert Maciel IV, Selena Maciel, Diego Solorzano-Donaire, Kalianna Solorzano, Faith Solorzano, Brody Solorzano, Alana Maciel, Angelo Duran-Cruz, Jillian Clark, Vladimir Margetich, Finnegan Margetich, Theodore Margetich, Caspar Margetich, Johnny Solorio, and Dayana Solorio.
Robert was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children and grandchildren and always tried his best to support them.
His passions included riding his Harley Davidson. He also had a private pilot license where he explored different areas of California. Robert was a loyal San Francisco Giants baseball and 49ers football fan and understood the “game behind the game”. Robert and Diane enjoyed traveling to Mexico and visiting family afar.
Robert proudly retired from Ray L Hellwig Plumbing & Heating Company in 2016. When his wife Diane retired in 2019, it was a start of their new chapter together so they moved to Lincoln, California where they enjoyed gardening and working on their new home.
Anyone who knew Robert knew that he was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother a family could ask for.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Lincoln Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on 7/26/2022 at 1 PM – 5 PM at Lincoln Funeral Home.
