Fred John Thompson

Fred passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Lincoln, CA. He was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to Northern California with his family when he was a boy. Fred was a hard working and self motivated family man. He loved golf, kids and backyard barbecues. He enjoyed travel, family gatherings and was one of the lucky ones who truly enjoyed his career working in the steel fabrication and erection business. He started as a draftsman and worked his way to being a respected lead estimator for Palm Iron and Bridge Works, Modern Metal Installations and C.E. Toland & Son. He was proud of the work he had done and his legacy can be remembered at some iconic locations where his work can be seen like the California Exposition and State Fair Entrance, Pac Bell Park, San Francisco International Airport and many more. He liked home emerging tech and was an early adopter of the Sony Betamax, the satellite dish, the car phone and the home computer. Not surprisingly, he took to the internet in his mid 60s and became an eHarmony.com success story when he met Lyn Chauvet, the last love of his life there online. A proud man and a positive figure in our lives, he will truly be missed. Fred is survived by his wife Lyn, his sister Betty Julian, brothers Donald and William Thompson, son Patrick Thompson, grandchildren Kevin Thompson and Kathleen Mitchell and great granddaughter Aubrey Mitchell all in Northern California. He is preceded in death by his first wife Jeanette and brother Robert. Fred did not want a funeral or a memorial service but he loved a good backyard barbecue and pool party. So, we will be honoring Fred and his memory on his birthday. When: Saturday, May 27th 2017 noon onward Where: Patrick's home at 2216 Lee Way, Roseville, CA 95661.
