Brent was born on July 19, 1949 to Rulon Rappleye and Dorothy Rappleye in Utah. He was the oldest child. He married the love of his life, Faye Rappleye, on June 21, 1968 in Draper, Utah. They were blessed with two children. He and Faye were married 53 years when she passed away in 2021.
Brent began working in the masonry trade in 1967; his masonry career spanned 58 years. He worked hard, became an artisan, and obtained a State of Utah masonry contractor license, then opened his own masonry company. However, in 1986 during the Utah economic downturn, the masonry industry slowed down and he earned his AS Degree in Data Processing from Utah Technical College (and later became a Microsoft Certified Professional) with the hopes of becoming a computer programmer, which never came to fruition. In 1987 he moved his family to California due to more masonry work opportunities. To give back to his trade, he participated in the formation of the Masonry Industry Training Association of Northern California and from 2005-2006 he taught a ROP masonry vocation class at a local high school district. In his later years he worked as the lead estimator for a multi-million-dollar masonry construction company, working up until the end.
Brent was a people person and just about everyone who met him liked him. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, being in a bowling league, watching football (specifically the Denver Broncos), computers, working on cars, being a CB radio club member, knife making, and visiting the ocean. In his older years he enjoyed spending time with family, going to dragster races, watching football games, and partaking in a fine whiskey or craft beer among friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife and both of his parents. He is survived by his brothers and sister Jeff Rappleye, [Thomas] Keith Rappleye and Mary Winkelkotter; his son and daughter-in law Dale Rappleye and Stacey Rappleye; his daughter and son-in law Cynthia Martin and Phil Martin; and his four grandchildren Kayla Martin, Victoria Rappleye, Cyrus [Alexandra] Rappleye, and Brent D Rappleye.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15th from 2pm-4pm at the Rocklin Community Center located at 5480 5th Street, Rocklin, CA 95677. Light refreshments will be served.
