In Loving Memory of Barbara Conger

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Barbara Conger (nee Neibert), who peacefully left this world on her 83rd birthday, February 23, 2025. Barbara (Barb, Mom) will always be known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her friends and family.

Barbara Ann Neibert was born on February 23,1942 in Chico, CA to Leon Thomas Neibert Sr. and Lorraine Theresa Neibert, where she was later joined by siblings Leon Thomas Neibert, Jr. and Mary Neibert. Barbara grew up in Chico, attending elementary and middle school before graduating from Chico High School, where she met many lifelong friends as well as her future husband. James (Jim) Conger. After high school, Barbara and Jim married in 1960 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for Jim’s football scholarship at Utah University. It was in Utah, where Barbara and Jim’s two daughters were born (Kari and Lisa) before the family moved back to Chico to finish Jim’s teaching education at Chico State University and welcoming their third child, son Rick.

The Conger family moved to Sutter, CA to Jim’s first teaching job and eventually moved to the Sacramento area and El Dorado Hills, CA where Barbara pursued and received her college degree in Business Administration from Sacramento State. Barbara worked at a financial/property management company before starting her own business with River City Financial and finally moving to the Del Web retirement community in Lincoln, CA to enjoy her retirement years.

Barbara and Jim enjoyed retirement life with trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Canada, Europe, Palm Springs, Hilton Head and several other golf communities across the United States. In addition, Barbara and Jim loved to socialize with their many groups of friends from Chico, Sutter, Sacramento and Lincoln to play pool, cards, golf and travel.

Mom was incredibly special and fiercely loving and loyal to her long-time friends and family. She inspired us to work hard, trust and love each other and loved having family get togethers. Mom loved to read, cook and most of all SHOP!

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim in 2020, and her father Leon and mother Lorraine. Barbara is survived by her children Kari Conger, Lisa Tripp (son in-law Stuart) and Rick Conger (daughter in-law Vanessa); sister Mary Emrich (Bud); brother Leon Neibert, Jr; grandchildren Hailey Jimenez (Santos), Alissa Kiesz (Chris), Katelyn Tripp; great-grandchildren James Jimenez and Charley Kiesz, nephews David Conger and Jeff Kesseler, along with several first and second cousins.

A private celebration of life will be held with the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. A special thank you to the loving staff and residents at Atria Rocklin for making Barbara’s final years so comfortable and special.

Barbara's legacy of love, kindness, compassion, joy and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
