Tom was born on January 3, 1954 in Lima, Ohio to Al and Irene (Seech) Goedde who survive in Lima. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda (Miller) Goedde, July 29, 2004.
He is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Goedde, Westerville and his son, Matthew (Deb) Goedde of Lewis Center. Other survivors include his two grandchildren, Morgan Goedde and Sam Goedde who were the light of his life. He will be missed by his siblings, Joseph (Amy) Goedde of Columbus, Mary (Richard) Schorr of Dublin, Barbara Goedde of Dublin, Gregory Goedde of Newark and Lisa (Jimi) Stricklin of Powell. Surviving nephews and nieces include Brian, Samantha and Liza Goedde, Alexandra Stricklin, Dan and Jonny Schorr.
Tom was a 1972 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. He was a truck driver by trade and damn good at it. Tom often joked about others saying “anyone can drive a truck”; but his safety record for over 30 years was second to none. He was employed by Nash Finch.
Tom was an avid and loyal fan of the New York Yankees and a faithful follower of George Jones, whose concerts he attended with his close friend, Dan Grothaus. He loved NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt and country music. Some of his favorite hobbies were working on cars and enjoying his mom’s home cooking.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon, Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima, with Fr. Steve Blum officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be onThursday, from 2-5, and 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
