Joseph Rosario Silone, 89, of Lima, died at 5:45 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at Lima Manor. He was born Dec. 21, 1927 in Lima, to Rosario Thomas and Veronica (Ihle) Silone. On July 21, 1973, he married Sheila Catherine Brennan who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Jared) Hinton of Lima, and a granddaughter, Brenna Smith.
Preceding him in death are three siblings, Robert Silone, Rosemary Brennan and Thomas Silone.
Mr. Silone retired as a railroad engineer, working for the Nickel Plate Railroad and retiring from Norfolk & Southern. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, and was a former member of the F.O.E. #370 and the B.P.O.E. #54, all in Lima. He was an avid bridge player acquiring master points.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
