John Jack G. Sweeney

John G. “Jack” Sweeney, 84 of Lima passed away at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 after a brief illness at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Lima to Carroll “Mike” F. and Margaret (Graham) Sweeney and they preceded him in death. On June 6, 1959 he married Marjorie Ann Pfeiffer and she passed away December 9, 1976.

Jack is survived by his children, Diane (Alex) Sweeney Alexander of Oak Ridge, TN, Father John (Kelley) P. Sweeney of Shawnee, KS, his grandchildren, Katie (Daniel) Gonzales, Maggie (John) Bunch, Chris Alexander, Ashley Sweeney, Christian Sweeney, Joel Sweeney, Hope Sweeney, Victoria Sweeney, and Jude Sweeney. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gloria Leech of Lima.

Mr. Sweeney is also preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Sweeney and his sister, Ann Sweeney Turner.

Jack was a 1947 graduate from Lima Central High School, a 1952 graudate of Ohio State University College of Engineering. He and his father were the owners of Sweeney and Associates Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a registered professional engineer, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club, the Jaycees, and a member of the BPOE Lodge #97. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was very dedicated to the YMCA and gave his time to promoting the “Y”. He was a member of the Market Street Presbyterian Church, a very active member of the Lima Rotary for over 50 years, a lifetime member of the YMCA, and a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME with his beloved son, Father John P. Sweeney will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Family and friends may call Saturday, December 7, 2013 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m.
